Actively reaching out to the world around us.
Wayne Farms and our employees partner in our communities to donate time and money in support of a wide range of humanitarian agencies, such as United Way, American Cancer Society and Special Olympics. We also encourage and sponsor local involvement of our plant personnel in activities such as Relay for Life and WalkAmerica, volunteer emergency services fundraisers and food donation efforts.
Here are just some of the many ways we get involved to make a difference.
Supporting Relay for Life
For 12 years, Wayne Farms facilities have had Relay for Life teams and made great contributions in the battle against cancer. In fact, our facility team in Decatur, Ala., raised $160,000 in 2014, which surpassed its 2013 results by $45,000 and earned the team eighth-place ranking in the nation! Collectively, Wayne Farms donated over $200,000 to the American Cancer Society’s signature fund-raising event last year.
Supporting Continued Education
Wayne Farms is a staunch supporter of several educational programs that introduce youth to the poultry industry and encourage continued schooling. We partner with organizations on local and national levels to promote education and help build a solid foundation for our future workforce.
Supporting Future Farmers of America (FFA)
It is vital to our company and our industry to increase awareness of the global and technological importance of agriculture and its contribution to our well being. FFA allows students the chance to achieve support and knowledge through a variety of experience programs to develop interpersonal skills in teamwork, communications, social interaction and more. Wayne Farms supports this organization on a local and national level and provides an opportunity for college students to work with us on an internship basis. Over the years, we have even hired many young professionals who began their journey in the industry with FFA.
Supporting Local Community Events
Throughout the year, Wayne Farms makes funding and product donations to local events, institutions and civil service groups. Our employees are known for joining multiple community boards, including Keep America Beautiful, local chambers of commerce, revitalization committees and more.
Supporting Our Community of Family Farms
Wayne Farms has a large network of dedicated growers and family farmers who have worked with us for many years, several even for multiple generations. We understand the farming challenges of the future: securing food demands, attending to environmental needs and reducing carbon footprints. Which is why we provide our growers with many assets to assist with these daily challenges. Wayne Farms also offers cost-sharing programs to encourage and help fund our growers’ continuous efforts to update and improve their operations to support more sustainable farming.
