Biomapping

We use a multi-faceted approach in our facilities to reduce the microbial load of our products. It starts with the pullets and breeders using our vaccination program. Our feed is formulated with pro- and pre-biotics to improve the gut health of our birds. We’ve begun implementing a rolling microbial bio-map in our processing facilities allowing us to continuously assess the effectiveness of our in-plant microbiological interventions.

GFSI

Each of our processing facilities undergoes a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), audit annually by Merieux NutriSciences Certification Services. The GFSI standard we use is Safe Quality Foods (SQF) and each of our facilities has achieved SQF Food Safety Code certification for 9 consecutive years. The average score for all facilities during 2018 was 96%.

Audits

Wayne Farms conducts annual internal quality and food safety audits to measure progress and identify areas for improvement. For the past five years, the number of nonconformities found on these audits has been reduced yearly.

USDA

All of our plants are inspected by the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), a division of USDA. At Wayne Farms you will find FSIS inspectors at each of our facilities and on every shift monitoring our practices from animal welfare to food safety.
