Trust your brands with the highest quality and safety.
As one of the first poultry companies to vertically integrate, Wayne Farms LLC is able to implement strong food safety and quality practices from our farms to our customers' facilities. We work in partnership with industry, government and independent experts to create and implement rigorous food safety and quality practices in all of our processing facilities. We also use up-to-date, science-based procedures and are constantly seeking new areas where we can improve.
Food Safety Management Programs
All Wayne Farms’ facilities are inspected by the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), which is responsible for ensuring the safety, wholesomeness and accurate labeling of poultry products. For over twenty years, Wayne Farms has implemented food safety management programs in accordance with the following FSIS requirements:
- Developing and implementing Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) preventive controls
- Setting pathogen reduction performance standards for salmonella
- Implementing written standard operating procedures for sanitation (SSOP)
- Conducting microbial testing for generic to verify the prevention of fecal contamination and the adequacy of process controls
As new technological improvements to food safety arise, Wayne Farms adjusts and adds new management programs where needed. As a matter of fact, in 2010 we converted our Food Safety Management Program to the Global Food Safety Initiative’s (GFSI’s) standard Safe Quality Foods (SQF) 2000 Level 2 program. GFSI promotes constant and innovative change to stay ahead of the food safety curve, which positions Wayne Farms to safely provide for our customers at all times.
Allergens and Labeling
It is our job to provide our customers with products that are safe and properly labeled. Wayne Farms is in compliance with the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA) and uses our Allergen Control Program to ensure all allergen residue is removed and not contaminating product.
Our strict policy on labeling and specifications provides us with continuous monitoring and verification of all product labels. Procedures are in place to prevent product from leaving our facility if the ingredients or label do not match the product’s specifications.
Wayne Farms takes product recalls very seriously and treats each situation as an emergency. We have a trained Product Recall Team in place that is re-trained every year. In addition, each of our plants participates in mock recalls on a quarterly basis to ensure preparedness if a recall situation were to arise.
Each Wayne Farms facility is audited, internally and externally, every year against GFSI’s SQF 2000 Level 2 certification criteria. We are determined to only accept the best products from our facilities and are proud to note that for the last five years, each facility has maintained its SQF 2000 Level 2 certification.
Customer Service is one of the defining core values of Wayne Farms, and we strive to handle any comments, questions or concerns our customers have to create long-lasting relationships. Each request is promptly reviewed and documented and granted a timely response. Our customer service is a tool we use to assist customers when needed, but it is also a way to correct any possible problems from reoccurring.
