Worker Health & Safety Programs

Wayne Farms LLC employs approximately 9,000 people in nine integrated complexes comprised of nine hatcheries; nine feed mills; nine slaughter processing plants; and two further processing plants. Within every area and discipline we make employee welfare our top priority through an extensive range of safety programs and procedures.


WorkSAFE Program: Over a decade ago, Wayne Farms implemented a behavior based safety initiative called WorkSAFE, which focuses on helping employees identify unsafe behaviors and remain conscious of their environment and potentially dangerous situations.

Ergonomic Job Management System (EJMS): Not only is behavior-based safety important to us, but we take ergonomic safety seriously as well. This system helps our team identify areas of great risks for workers and guides them in corrective actions and workstation modifications to avoid unnecessary discomfort.

Internal Audits at Plant Facilities: Wayne Farms takes initiative in company accountability and performs multiple internal audits on every aspect of our Worker Health and Safety Program to assure the continuous improvement of our workers’ welfare and constant compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

First Aid Management: All Wayne Farms locations are equipped with thoroughly trained employees to handle Employee Medical and Worker’s Compensation matters. These individuals are trained for first aid management to treat, record and report work-related injuries and illnesses and work directly under the supervision of certified local physicians.
